<2011 Metro Asia Street Dancing Competition> is about to start. Previously, an online voting was held for the ‘Most High Dancing Themed Song of the Year’, they invited all netizens to choose the highest dancing themed song in their heart. This online voting was held for 3 weeks, it attracted thousands of people to join and it ended at 9th May 2011. Han Geng, who became a soloist released an album last year. With the support from his fans, he got almost all the ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at every award presentation ceremony. At this online voting, he got named as the champion with the support of all netizens. <My Logo> was named as the champion with 5050 votes. Gengfans left messages on the internet expressing their happiness.
<Metro Asia Street Dancing Competition> is in its seventh year running and is organized by Taipei Metro Competition and Cathay United Bank. They worked with the media and started the promotions on the internet, and invited all netizens and listeners to choose the representative for the Most High Dancing Themed Song of the Year. This activity started on the 22nd April and ended in 9th May. To establish its fairness and to prevent votes spammer, everyone is only allowed to vote once and thousands of voters took part in this voting. Han Geng received support from all netizens with <My Logo>, fans also started activities like voting to support Han Geng on the internet. And, when the voting started, Han Geng’s position within the top 3 was maintained throughout the polling time. Finally, fans of Han Geng came forward and brought <My Logo> straight to the champion spot with 6 x more votes than the rest.
Show Luo, whose new album <Only You> just created a sales record in Taiwan, his song <Ai De Zhu Chang Xiu> got second position with 1440 votes. And, for the ambassador of the competition this year, Elva Hsiao <Ms. Chic> got the third postion with 1038 votes. The fourth position was taken by Super Junior M <Perfection>. Next, Danson Tang, who just released his new album, his song <I’m Back> and Asia Dancing Queen, Jolin Tsai <Mei Ren Ji> got fifth and sixth position respectively. Fahrenheit and S.H.E from the same company, their songs, <Too Hot> and <Shero Dancing Version> stand firmly in the seventh and eighth position. Jay Chou, who had recently went to Hollywood with striking results, his composition skills was recognized long ago, his song <Ms. Hip Hop> took the ninth position. Netizens expressed that Jay Chou’s dancing skills are getting better. In the tenth position, it was taken by the 4 member group, Lollipop, they was named with the song <The Fourth Dimension>.

Oh yes, today April 11, 2011 will go down in history marked as another milestone for Han Geng since his solo flight as an artiste in his own right. It was exactly a year ago that he stood up on that stage, all alone and uncertain..

In that one short year, Han Geng has grown up to be more certain, more confident and more self-assuring.. He can now hold up his head high and have no fear of soaring higher and spreading his wings wider..He has come a long way..!

In less than 12 months, Han Geng had gained much ground by flying solo.

It was here that Han Geng’s ethnicity came into play..they made him the “leader” of a group..Talking about hitting two birds with a stone..from all aspects, everything was in place and intact. Everything was just peachy and perfect and ripe for them to pluck the fruits..!
Aim: Conquer the Chinese Market..
There is nothing wrong in that when in business where there is an opportunity there is a potential market to sell their products..
This time Han Geng is no longer just a Chinese member of a mammoth group of people.
This time he had a slightly bigger and responsible role to play..being the captain of his own small group – a band made up of 7 members..!
In 2008, he had the responsibility of leading a group of 7-member band into an untested and unfamiliar ground of Chinese Entertainment World..
Why untested and unfamiliar? The simple fact was that his group was made up of foreign members..4 from SK, 1 was a Canadian of Chinese origin, and 2 from Mainland China including himself..!
So with this diversity in ethnicity and culture, Han Geng had to lead this group and venture into the Chinese Entertainment World singing Mandarin songs…!! What a gigantic task for such an inexperienced guy.! From member to leader to promoting Mandarin songs with a group who can’t speak Chinese at all..!! That wasn’t promotions for Han Geng..! That was a torture and a suicidal venture just by thinking about it..!! How was he going to succeed..?
Can anyone imagine such a huge task ahead of him ? Can it be possible to accomplish what the company wanted by breaking into the Chinese Entertainment Market? Only a miracle could help him then and it did..!!
How ? Little did the company know that Han Geng is not only gifted in singing and dancing..he is also gifted in foresight ! Years ago, he already had this gift of social networking, by making,connecting and keeping friendships intact..Whenever he had the perchance to meet people irregardless of social standings, he made it a point to cultivate their friendships and maintain good comradeship between them. Through all those years of sincere friendliness and connections, Han Geng managed to obtain commitments of promotions from his personal social networking group. He was able to promote SJ-M through these connections and the hidden advantage there was that Han Geng developed his social skills from all these challenges thrown at him..
He never wasted an opportunity presented to him..He could have rejected the responsibility placed on his shoulders but he didn’t..He is his own rival..he competes with himself…to give up before trying or testing things out is not his nature. His positive attitude is to try and try and try until it gave way..! Until there is no more room or no more roads to traverse on..to the limits is probably his motto in life..!
And because he did that, (he was able to benefit from that experience of leading a diverse non-Chinese speaking group in a Chinese speaking country..) he gained not only social skills but also public relations skills..! He has developed the art of manipulating Questions & Answers sessions in press conferences and interviews..hehehehe..!!!
I remembered an awkward situation where he was questioned by reporters whether SJ-M deserved to win the title Most Popular Chinese group & Chinese Rookie group of that year..when the majority of the members were not of Chinese origin..( the emphasis here was the term Chinese) I knew that was a trick question and it was a sticky one too..It was also a test on his public relations skill too..He knew that they deserved that award and yet what the reporter said was also true..they were not a complete Chinese group..that’s a fact and the truth..Everyone can see that they were not and yet they won the award with the title Chinese group? When this question was posed to HG, the implication was so obvious..it meant the ethnicity of Chinese origins..So the “safest” way for HG was to reply that the songs they sang were in Chinese and that they were developing and expanding in China..
So if you were in Han Geng’s place, how would you defuse that situation without admitting the glared truth and also to avoid telling a lie..?That’s why I say that throughout those years, Han Geng has mastered the art of manipulating answers to tricky questions..!

Over times, we have been defending Han Geng and disproving those harsh critics wrong and yet those people won’t stop. Even more so now, they won’t stop because Han Geng has proven them wrong again and again..!
They will come back with more ferociousness and viciousness. Why? It’s because they can’t accept the fact that they were wrong..! They were adamant in putting Han Geng down and to dampen his spirits & enthusiasm in 2010 because Han Geng was a newbie. For a newbie to be able to receive so many awards just in his debut year is just unacceptable and also because Han Geng won’t fall into their game-plan. Many times, in interviews, they tried to draw Han Geng into making a false move in order for them to “skin him alive” but Han Geng was a pro in evading those “hot” topics and he is the master when it comes to dangling the media on a hook…by being mysterious is Han Geng’s best weapon yet.!
The other reason would be that Geng is so much loved by his fans and even from people in the entertainment industry. Never have there been such a celebrity so well-loved by almost all people of different genre..Usually, a celebrity is well-liked and loved by his/her fans but not so much by his/her peers..So Han Geng is an exceptional star..the one who shines the brightest in the morning & evening.!
